I took photos for this beautiful family in Brighton, Colorado at sunset! Brighton is on the way out of Denver as you go to the northeastern plains. I know a lot of people in Colorado go to the mountains for pictures, but there’s something special about the plains. Maybe it’s from being born and raised in Oklahoma where there’s a big sky, maybe it’s that Austin’s from the plains, or maybe it’s from HATING crowds and traffic, but I love it! You can’t beat the pureness of being able to see the sun set right at the horizon. In Brighton you can still see a little bit of mountains but it’s a lot more open than in Denver itself.
As I was driving to their house, the sun was setting behind some clouds so we ended up taking pictures a little earlier than we were planning so that we could still get some nice golden rays. We just took photos around the property and walked around! I like taking pictures on dirt roads when the sun is still a little higher because it doesn’t reflect a weird color cast.
This little girl is going to be a big sister soon! She has a super easy-going personality and is going to be a great big sibling. And their adorable English cream retriever is going to have someone else to play with too! He almost always has a toy in his mouth.
I love taking pictures of young families — I’m not working in edtech/education anymore, so I’m not really around little ones anymore! It’s so fun to capture their silly, earnest expressions and freeze a moment in time for their parents since they grow up so quickly. I’m looking forward to taking pictures of this family soon after their baby is born!
