Cerebral Brewing & Denver In-Home Engagement | Alex & Dave

City, Engagement, In-Home, Outdoor October 17, 2020

I had so much fun taking Alex & Dave’s engagement photos at Cerebral Brewing—the location of their first date!!

Dave is in a bluegrass band that plays there (check them out!), so this place is already so special to them. Their team was so gracious to let us set up a time to reserve the table where Alex and Dave had their first date. In case you’re wondering, Cerebral is open! Their tap room has limited seating for social distancing so it feels really safe, and their whole front patio is open. I’ll absolutely bring my friends here whenever people can safely travel again!

They have a super fun old-school photo booth that Alex and Dave have mastered over the years (there is no screen to know when the photos are being taken)!! Isn’t this so cute? Aren’t THEY so sweet? I’m obsessed. I love photographing such kind, thoughtful, and hilarious couples.

Afterward, we went to take photos at their beautiful home in Denver! The wallpaper in this room is from Hygge & West! Their kitten Soy was the star of some of these photos. He was very curious and alert each time my shutter clicked :).

Hello, beautiful archways. I never thought I could love walls so much. I love these walls and their texture!

Dave loves to cook, and Alex loves breakfast food, so they made pancakes! See the raspberries? Those are from their own raspberry bush in their backyard!! And they tasted amazing!

I love having couples and families make something together in the kitchen because that’s what being inside your house is actually like!! (OR if you’re like me, opening the door for pizza is what being inside my house is actually like.) Dave was literally making bread throughout the day. Going from room to room, moving about your house, just living your life—that’s what I’m here to capture. I love these photos of Dave & Alex (I know I’m biased)!

Their house is so beautiful and it feels so homey already. Isn’t their front door so cool?? And the house in general!

Their street is so beautiful (how many times can I say beautiful in this post), and the leaves were starting to turn yellow! Fall in Denver is stunning—it’s nice to be somewhere with seasons ;).

The backyard of dreams (with a raspberry bush!!). And the wind chime is special to them too.

I have been doing several in-home sessions lately (at a safe distance!) and really truly love them. Whether you just got your first apartment together, have lived in your home for 10 years, or have, in-home “lifestyle” sessions are a great way to remember a particular season of life.

Congratulations to Alex & Dave on your engagement!!! I am so honored to have taken your engagement photos. May wedding planning be smooth and easy :).

2021 is the year of trying to be more creative and evoking more mood. 🆒

*note that I’ll still take all the normal pictures too for your couples/family/wedding shots, but sometimes I’ll throw in experimental ones 🙌
Part 1 of 2: Maddi and I went to the lake. So so Part 1 of 2: Maddi and I went to the lake.

So so sooooo so thankful for Maddi for many reasons, but today I’m grateful for friends that stand in the cold wind with me.

The second to last photo is tswift lover-esque and the last photo is like hunger games Star Wars-esque 🤪 WE CAN DO IT ALL!
Happy new year!! Congrats Kendall and Spencer on y Happy new year!! Congrats Kendall and Spencer on your engagement!! 🎉 for the first photo session of the year we went for some red rock and mountain views! I can’t wait for your coffeehouse wedding later this year 🥰

I deleted Instagram and am trying to stay off social media (I check my messages on desktop though because I love the grumpy Bernie memes my friends send me), so here’s a whole bunch of my favorites since I’m going to delete the app again 😂

There are even more in my stories and on my blog (link in bio 👆)!!! I couldn’t help myself. With two locations there were too many to choose from!

My 2020 year in review blog is up (link in bio)! I’ve posted the majority of my 2020 blogs in the last 2 weeks 🙃 so the content may not seem too new, but I love recaps and reviewing what I did/learned. Also if you missed all those blogs you can just read this one 🤣

Spoiler: I did a LOT of photo education on nights and weekends this year.

I have some 2021 photo goals (some vague ones) in my blog that I hope to achieve/pick away at next year 🤓. I try to keep most of my goals creative rather than financial because I’m trying to keep this fun for myself!
