I got to take pictures of my coworker’s family for their Christmas card!
I brought my 50mm and my full frame. I kind of wish I had brought my Sigma 35, but the 50 just looks so great on a full frame with minimal distortion. Plus for a Christmas card I feel like it’s more important to see the people in the picture rather than the surroundings anyway! So it worked out.
Since we were in one spot it was a lot easier/quicker to edit these since I could be more consistent, but the sun came out a little bit halfway through! So it got a little bit brighter and warmer, which I was happy about. I’m glad we ended up being able to make this time work because it’s supposed to rain the rest of the week.
I really like taking pictures of families and capturing in between moments and the silliness and joy. I’m still learning how to pose (especially details like hands, shoulders, feet, etc) and part of me doesn’t want to get that nitpicky because I want things to be natural and real, but I should also learn to adjust people so that when I take pictures of people who aren’t as comfortable/photogenic, I can make them feel better and confident! (This family was photogenic though so it was less work.)
